isobilateral - isobilateral;isobilateral - (Of leaves), having same structure on both sides. Characteristic of leaves of monocotyledons, e.g. iris, where leaf-blade is more or less vertical and the two sides are equally exposed. Below epidermis on both sides of the leaf, lying regularly side by side with their long axes at right-angles to it, are elongated cells of palisade mesophyll and between them, loosely arranged cells of spongy mesophyll.
